**NELC MEMBERS ONLY EVENT**
We are not so naïve to think that all of the best practices reside in the companies that make up the New England Lean Consortium. There are many companies that display excellence in one form or another.
One of the activities of the NELC is to take a Plant Tour of one of those companies and learn from the best of the best.
On May 2nd, we visited Thermo Fisher in Franklin, MA, one of the highest rated Plant Tours for the AME Boston 2017 Conference.
On June 26th, six of us will be visiting Gemline in Lawrence, MA to observe their CI Day exposition.
Gemline was another highly rated Plant Tour for the AME Boston 2017 Conference.
Gemline has an outstanding employee engagement program, having implemented over 30,000 employee suggestions.
Legrand Wiremold is another world class plant, that is well down the road of Lean.
Wiremold was frequently mentioned and highlighted for their Lean program in the book, “Lean Thinking” by James Womack and Dan Jones.
Among the many outstanding Lean tools in use at this plant is the extensive use of Heijunka boxes to schedule and control production. Michael Kijak, Plant Manager, has graciously agreed to host a tour for the members of the New England Lean Consortium, on Thursday, June 28th, starting at 1:00 pm.
For those that will be attending, please plan to arrive by 1:00 pm.
Address: Legrand Wiremold 60 Woodlawn St. West Hartford, CT, 06110
I hope to see many of you there.
